Upcoming Seminar

Roy Goldberg Sensei
Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu
October 20-22, 2017

Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu is a 1,200 year old samurai martial art and National Treasure of Japan. Its core principles focus on subtle manipulations of balance that can complement and enrich any martial arts training. Daito Ryu is not just a set of techniques, but a whole body approach that can transform your budo practice.

Roy Shingen Goldberg is one of the highest ranked Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu practitioners outside of Japan and the senior student of Hayawo Kiyama Shihan, the President and Chief Instructor of North American Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu Kodo Kai (NADRAKK).

Goldberg Sensei has trained over 3 decades with Kiyama Shihan and the leading Shihan from Japan including three Menkyo Kaiden. When he received the Hiden Mokuroku, the first scroll of transmission in Daito Ryu, Goldberg Sensei was given the name "Shingen" by Yusuke Inoue the Kodo Kai Menkyo Kaiden. Goldberg Sensei was also awarded the rank of 7th Dan and certified with the rare teaching license Kyoju Dairi by the Menkyo Kaiden. He is the first and only non-Japanese to earn this rank from the Hombu Dojo in Kitami, Japan.

In June, 2016 he was presented with the prestigious Hi Ogi, the 3rd scroll in the transmission of Daito Ryu Kodo Kai. In August, 2016 at his 80th birthday party, Kiyama Shihan presented Goldberg with his Shihan and appropriate attire.

To this day, he continues to train under his instructor Kiyama Shihan and he believes that, “in the martial arts, one teaches only to continue his own unfinished study.” Goldberg Sensei's goal is to preserve, protect and transmit Daito Ryu, the beautiful secret art and National Treasure of Japan, to pass it on to serious students, just as his teacher, Kiyama Shihan shared it with him.

With the exception of the advanced dan session on Saturday, the seminar is open to students of ALL levels.
